WDG Series Part-V

WDG 4. This locomotive was a boon for Indian Railways! Their looks, stance and power were intimidating (at least from one end) and were totally unlike anything India had seen until then. It predated the WDP4 by two years and was originally the GT46MAC designed and built by Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) of USA. First few were imported and then DLW started building them in India and most were sent to Hubli (UBL). The WDP4 was the most powerful diesel locomotive in India at the time! Its production started in the year of 1999 and ended in the year of 2012. About 431 locomotives were produced in this time period.
